How big is Procida?
|

Procida
has a surface area of around 3.7 square
kilometers. It is almost entirely level
with the exception of Terra Murata which
has a height of around 91 meters above sea
level. The island has a resident population
of around 11.000 inhabitants. Considering
the number of square meters, Procida represents
the most densely populated place in Europe.

together with the near islands of Ischia

If you go to one of the harbours in Naples

is an island rich in natural beauties, landscape,
and is above all a cultural and artistic
pole. It is possible to visit the historical
center of Terra Murata, the Marina di Corricella,
the various churches, the Chiaiolella harbour.

easy to get to the "cousins" Capri
and Ischia from Procida? |

Ischia
is easy to get to in every moment of the
day considering that numerous ferries and
hydrofoils connect the two islands that
are separated by a narrow stretch of sea.
To go to Capri, you need to go first to
the port of Naples or to Ischia. In spring
and summer, however, numerous private transport
companies organize daily excursions to the
islands of the gulf.

| When
is it totally prohibited to disembark on the
island? |
|
The
prohibition of disembarkment, valid exclusively
for residents of the Campania, goes from
April the 1st to September the 30th.

| Are
there some moments in which driving on the
island is totally forbidden? |
|
In
the summer from the first week of July to
the week before September it is forbidden
to drive on the island from 8 pm to 3 am.
Nevertheless, other prohibitions are also
issued on particular occasions (processions,
fests, week-ends) to allow tourists and
residents to enjoy the island. Every day,
from 10,00 o'clock to 12,00 o'clock and
from 5,00 pm to 8,00 pm an anti-pollution
measure is put into plan, whereby, on days
with an even date, only cars whose numberplate
ends in an even number may be on the road,
while on days with an odd date, only cars
whose numberplate ends in an odd number
may be on the road. |
