Certainly the most isolated zone of the
island but also among one of the more panoramic
ones is Solchiaro, a peninsula full of nature.
It has to its west a marvellous view of
the Saint Margherita hill, the islet of
Vivara and Ischia and to its east is Naples,
the Phlegrean Coast, the Sorrento coast
and Capri. Together with Punta Pizzaco and
the underlying “cala of Carbonchio”",
it is one of the most popular destinations
for swimmers, people who love nature, rocks,
silence and solititude and of course diving.
In fact, the body of sea around Punta Solchiaro
is full of interesting elements such as
corals, gorgonias, sponges, some big fish
(bass or sea urchins) and, as a testimony
to all the shipwrecks and past misadventures,
there is also an unbelievable quantity of
anchors under the surface of the water.

Returning
to dry land, the road that connects Solchiaro
with Piazza Olmo is emblematically called
“Panoramic” by the Pocidans,
because they really do want to underline
the peculiarities of the place where one
can not only admire the aforesaid panorama,
but because it is possible to walk along
a marvellous path along the precipice of
the sea underneath Palazzo Guarracino, an
imposing, ancient building which was once
a holiday house for Neapolitan royals.
To break the silence of the place there
are only the faint cries of children playing
in the small park, which is also surrounded
by greenery and which has a breathtaking
panorama.
